Emirates Computers builds e-govt

After the recent announcement of the ‘e-government’ initiative, Emirates Computers (EC) has taken up the challenge.

After the recent announcement of the ‘e-government’ initiative, Emirates Computers (EC) has taken up the challenge and created a new business unit dedicated to the development of such solutions for the region.

As well as partnering with e-commerce vendors such as Oracle, Cisco, Brokat, OpenText and Dell, Emirates Computers has also partnered with start-ups from the U.S., and will import their expertise and solutions for the project.

“Our e-government solutions will range from consultancy and e-strategy planning to the management and implementation of highly sophisticated solutions, including financials, i-procurement and Customer Relationship Management (CRM),” explained Hani Harik, president of Emirates Computers.

The development of comprehensive e-services are expected to quicken the pace of delivery for all public services, eliminate red tape and inefficient processes.

Vital Process

“The process is vital if governments in the region are to reinvent their systems, improve their ability to serve the public and position their countries as leading business hub in the new world order,” said Harik.

Other implications of the Dubai initiative include the ability of the public to interact with government via mobile devices and the Internet at home and work as the public authorities get set to provide numerous long-term benefits in terms of standardisation of data, efficiency, speed and cost effectiveness.

“Perhaps most importantly it represents a fundamental commitment to creating an ‘Information Society’ that ultimately benefits the public in every aspect of their daily lives.

"Emirates Computer is glad to be playing a role in the implementation of this ground-breaking initiative and we are sure of the government’s capability to turn e-government into a reality in this region,” said Harik.
