Catwalk launch for Motorola fashion phone

High fashion met high technology this month, when Motorola launched its new V.2288 phone at the Zayed University Magnifica Moda Spring 2000 fashion show in Dubai.

High fashion met high technology this month, when Motorola launched its new V.2288 phone at the Zayed University Magnifica Moda Spring 2000 fashion show in Dubai.

Models in the show posed with the new Internet-enabled phone on the catwalk as they modeled designs created by students of the University Fashion Club.

The V.2288 combines a dual-band Internet enabled phoned with an FM radio tuner so that users can listen to the radio when they are not making calls.

The link between fashion and phones has been highlighted recently - designer Alexander McQueen was commissioned to design a range of clothing that incorporates NEC phones earlier this year.

Street-Savvy

Fadi Kachkouche of Motorola explained why they had chosen the show, which they co-sponsored, to release the phone: “The Motorola V.2288 phone has been created for street-savvy youngsters on the cutting edge of the latest technology and fashion.

"The V.2288 is their fashionable accessory, mobile internet and radio, and we are proud to be associated with such creative efforts of our dynamic youth.”

The V.2288 comes in a choice of three different body colours and a wide range of PhoneWrap covers, including soft rubber casings in seven bright colours and limited edition designer cases.

The 10 pre-set tuner on the V.2288 comes with an automatic override, which switches off the radio when there is an incoming call.
