TNT secures your e-mail

TNT plans to introduce a secure electronic document service that it hopes will help calm fears over the security of online business.

TNT plans to introduce a secure electronic document service that it hopes will help calm fears over the security of online business. The solution, called SecurEdoc, was developed in conjunction with US software company NetEx.

In order to use the service, you’ll just have to point your browser to tnt.com/securedoc, follow the on-screen instructions and then dispatch the document. The document’s intended recipient is immediately notified by e-mail, phone or fax that the electronic document is ready for retrieval. The document can be viewed online or downloaded to the recipient’s PC (once his identity has been verified of course.)

Most days you pick up the papers in the Gulf there is a story about hacking and general lack of security in the sending of e-mail, and there’s a lot of concern in the market,” says Steve Burd, Gulf marketing and sales manager, TNT. “TNT recognised something had to be done and we’ve done it with SecurEdoc.”

The service is now running in many parts of the world and will hit the Gulf “very soon”, the company says. TNT didn’t offer any hints as to what technologies the service is based on. TNT says that the service is intended for frequent usage and is priced accordingly.
