More points for your miles

Summer holidays are not just good for the mind, they can also earn you extra frequent flyer points. Skywards, the frequent flyer programme of Emirates and Sri Lankan Airlines, has introduced a number of ways for members to earn benefits over the Summer.

For example, members that rent an automobile from participating Skywards partners until September 30 can earn double the usual number of airline miles. Every customer also enters a draw to win 50,000 air miles.

Anyone staying at a Sofitel Hotel (and there are 145 spread across 48 countries) up until August 31 can also earn double the usual number of bonus miles. Similar offers are available from a number of other hotels, including Hilton Hotels, Marriott International, Le Meridien and several others.

Skywards says that nearly 40,000 people joined the frequent flyer programme in its first month of operation. The programme only went live at the end of May.

“We are very pleased with the positive response worldwide to Skywards, which recognises our customers’ loyalty with tangible benefits,” said Brian LaBelle, general manager, Skywards.

“Now, members will have even more reason to fly with us, with the added bonus of these exciting deals offered over the next few months by our car hire partner and a number of our partner hotels.”
