NEC sells Packard Bell to John Hui

NEC has completed the sale of its European consumer PC brand Packard Bell to John Hui, the former owner of e-Machines, a low-cost PC maker now owned by Gateway.

The Japanse electronics vendor had already transferred Packard’s enterprise solutions and products business to NEC Computers in 2005 and indicated the sale was to allow it to focus more on its activities in the enterprise market.

The cost of the sale was not disclosed.
