ETA & Star Group deploys SAP
UAE conglomerate ETA & Star Group of Companies has deployed SAP’s mySAP Business Suite across over 70 companies in a nine-month US$7million project.
The group rolled out the latest versions of mySAP ERP and mySAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in a bid to unify its business processes, improve performance across its operations in 12 industries and support its expansion plans.
Previously the firm had deployed a homegrown ERP solution and was particularly keen to improve its treasury operations, Arif Rahman, group director of finance for the company, told IT Weekly.
“The biggest benefit we get from the SAP solution is cash management and being able to optimise our resources in terms of human capital and deployment of assets,” Rahman said.
“Before we were not able to conduct very effective treasury operations. We have over 100 bank accounts and treasury operations were very complex and not real-time.With SAP everything becomes real-time.”
The ETA Group has over 4,000 employees and its operations span industries ranging from engineering and construction, retail and leisure. It was keen to consolidate information from its different business units onto a single platform, providing users and management with easy access to and analysis of data.
Abid Junaid, executive director of ETA Star Property Developers, revealed that the company also needed the solution to support its expansion plans outside the UAE: “We are not just expanding internally, we are also looking at overseas expansion,” he said.“If we have systems in place then rollout will be easier in other regions.”
The initial SAP rollout included full implementation of all ERP modules at three of ETA’s companies while the financial and human capital management (HCM) modules were implemented across all 70 companies during a nine month project carried out by one of SAP’s global implementation service partner, Larsen and Toubro.
