Avaya to help Dubai Police with enquiries

The new headquarters of Dubai Police has deployed a communication solution from Avaya. The firm supplied the police force with a communications network that provides integrated voice and data solutions, combining digital and internet protocol (IP) telephony.

Avaya said it also supplied a call centre for the police to handle enquiries.

The implementation of the Avaya solution involved the installation of 1,200 telephone sets at the new police headquarters and 300 units in Bur Dubai police station.

Colonel Dr Khalid Ali Ghanim Almarri from Dubai Police said that the police opted for Avaya’s solution after evaluating the offerings of various different suppliers.

“We were trying to find the best equipment for us. We tried equipment from every vendor and came to the conclusion that our needs can be satisfied with the system that Avaya is supplying,” Almarri said at a press conference announcing the contract.

“Avaya was the choice we made based on many technical issues and also trust issues. Dubai Police is the core of security in Dubai and we are glad that we went with Avaya,” he added.
