Cisco networking academy makes the grade with regional expansion

CISCO has hailed the success of its Networking Academy Programme (NetAcad) in the region following rapid expansion during its fiscal year to the end of July.

The initiative, which grew 73% over the previous 12 months, has seen 45 new academies established in the Gulf region during that period.

The vendor has opened new academies in various locations over the past year, including the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Pakistan and Yemen bringing its total number of academies in the region to 111.

Over half of the firm’s academies are in Pakistan with 27 in the UAE, ten in Oman, seven in Afghanistan, four in Kuwait, three in Bahrain, and two each in Qatar and Yemen.

Samer Alkharrat, general manager, Cisco Gulf, said: “The success of Cisco academy students is our main goal and with the support of education establishments, we have achieved tremendous growth in the number of Networking Academies and graduates across the world. With Cisco’s roots in the education community, we strive to provide local communities access to the knowledge and skills required to succeed in an increasingly technology-dependent economy.”
