Trapeze hopes sales head north following east meets west deal

Wireless LAN vendor awards EMW product distribution rights for entire region as it looks to repeat its European progress in the Middle East and boost its WiFi business

Trapeze Networks has signed East Meets West (EMW) as the distributor for its product lines across the whole Middle East region.

“The Trapeze business partner programme enhances our ability as a value added distributor to look beyond current trends,” said Serjios El-Hage, EMW’s vice president for the Middle East.

“By working in conjunction with Trapeze, we can develop timely and efficient solutions for our customers which is key in terms of localising our consultancy and service abilities with an impeccable track record in positioning the Trapeze product line,” he added.

Trapeze opened its European headquarters in 2003, and has pushed its range of Wi-Fi wireless networking products across the region.

According to the company, which secured US$30m in round-D funding earlier this year, 1,500 clients now use its WLAN systems, including ITN in the UK and La Coruna University in Spain.

“Since Trapeze launched in Europe, we have steadily developed our business through product innovations and a dedicated channel partner go-to-market teams,” said Keith Van Veenendaal, general manager and VP sales for Trapeze Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“EMW’s appointment enables us to further expand our WiFi business into the Middle East Region,” he added.

EMW, which has its Middle East headquarters in Dubai, has completed numerous enterprise networking deployments in the region.

The company is certified with a number of networking and communications vendors, including Cisco, Nortel, Avaya and Watchguard.

Research from Infonetics forecasts worldwide WLAN equipment sales to reach $3.6 billion in 2009 with EMEA accounting for 30% of that figure.
