Korek picks Eskadenia
Korek Telecom, a leading telecoms operator in the Kurdish part of Iraq, has selected and started running Eskadenia's billing and customer relationship management (BCRM) system in Erbil.
The deal marks the eighth project for Eskadenia in the area of telecoms customer care and billing, building on a series of successful deployments for telecoms operators in Europe and Africa.
"We have chosen Eskadenia BCRM from among different offers which we got from international vendors for a number of reasons.
First it is built on the latest technology and in accordance with international standards; secondly because of its strong and reliable support; and thirdly because Eskadenia's engineers were ready to come to Kurdistan and perform installation and training onsite for a long period.
We in Korek are planning to have more projects with Eskadenia," explained Hameed Akrawi, chief technology officer and deputy CEO at Korek Telecom.
The Eskadenia BCRM system allows Korek Telecom to professionally handle all billing services, customer care functions, interconnect and roaming agreements, and customer self-care internet access for post-paid subscribers connected to its GSM network.
The bilingual system delivered to Korek Telecom handles call details records for 850,000 subscribers with the option to increase this capacity as the subscriber base grows.
Jordan-based Eskadenia designs, develops and deploys a range of software products in the telecoms, enterprise and internet applications space across EMEA.
Korek Telecom is a shared limited company registered in Northern Iraq to operate and provide GSM service in the capital of Kurdistan-Erbil and the province of Duhok.
In the year 2000, the Ministry of Telecommunications granted Korek Telecom a five-year exclusive GSM mobile licence for the operation of a mobile network in the province and branches in Amdy, Souran, Zasho, and Akro.
The region has currently has about 4.5 million inhabitants.
Three nationwide providers operate in Iraq.
