Sharjah firm signs MoU with ASTF

Agreement aimed at driving exchange of skills and knowledge

Al Ruwad Establishment in Sharjah last month announced the signing of what it describes as a "key" memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF).

The pair will utilise both organisations' experience in using the latest technologies and to jointly cooperate towards the development of necessary qualifications and advanced skills for the UAE?s growing economic sectors.

The agreement is aimed at providing investment opportunities and the financing of specialised projects and the organising of scientific forums where ideas and experiences can be exchanged.

Present at the signing was HH Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi, president of Sharjah Economic Development Department and chairman of Al Ruwad Establishment and Dr Abdullah Abdul Aziz Al Najjar, chairman of ASTF.

HH Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi, said: "Al Ruwad Establishment is a regional Arabic establishment that carries forth the vision of HH Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Ruler of Sharjah, on social development and supporting the progress of youth, while developing highly qualified human resources to meet future economic and manpower requirements."

He added: "This memorandum of understanding with the reputed Arab Science and Technology Foundation is aimed to empower Al Ruwad Establishment with cutting-edge technologies, accurate scientific analyses and innovative ideas that can drive and propel the economy ahead."

Al Ruwad Establishment said it promotes and supports individual organisations and small and medium companies established by UAE nationals. It said it creates a positive climate for creative projects implemented by individuals and groups, through advising and guiding them in the right direction.

The organisation said it functions to motivate UAE locals to venture into diverse economic investment fields and participate in development policies that impact on their businesses.

Al Ruwad Establishment also said it encourages research and development by establishing support packages for scientific research and technical development, and provides all tools and consultation for the attainment of its vision towards a promising economic environment.

Established in 2000, the Arab Science and Technology Foundation said it has encouraged innovative and distinguished Arab technological and scientific research and joint research projects, cooperating and coordinating between scientific organisations, scientists and the Arab scientific community.

It also said it invests in advanced technologies and sciences for financing and managing research and development.
