Oger sets up office at DIFC

Oger Telecom, which is majority owned by construction firm Saudi Oger, has moved its corporate headquarters from Riyadh to a 550 square metres office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The decision to relocate the company headquarters was a strategic choice, a spokesperson for the company said, in order to position the firm centrally within the region.

“Oger Telecom is very pleased to be positioned at the DIFC, as it provides an efficient platform from which to operate throughout the region and is further evidence of our continued commitment to support the growth and expansion of our business interests in the Middle East,” Joe Haj Ali, chief marketing and communications officer and the general manager of Oger Telecom Dubai, said in a statement.

Oger Telecom currently has some 30 million subscribers under management. It acquired a 55% stake in former state telco Turk Telekom in July last year.

It also operates in Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, and South Africa, and is rumoured to be planning to bid for Saudi’s second fixed-line and third mobile licence tenders. “Oger Telecom will benefit greatly from proximity to the DIFC’s wealth of financial services talent, drawn from the world’s leading institutions,” said Assem Kabesh, chief business development officer and board member of the DIFC.
