Kuwaiti department saves on printing costs

The Kuwaiti Public Authority for Industry (PAI) is saving around US$750,000 a year by standardising its printing environment on HP products, senior executives said.

The Kuwaiti Public Authority for Industry (PAI) is saving around US$750,000 a year by standardising its printing environment on HP products, senior executives said.

PAI said it expected to have up to a 30% reduction in printing and associated costs as a result of the implementation. "Standardising our equipment with HP is the best thing we could have done. We estimate this will yield a saving of US$750,000 over a five-year period - this represents a fall in TCO (total cost of ownership) of between 25 and 30%.

And the equipment is backed by HP's highly reliable Care Pack Services," said Abdulkareem Taqi, information centre and decision support manager at the PAI.

The authority, which has seven branches throughout Kuwait and employs around 800 staff, revealed it has installed HP's Multifunction, LaserJet and DesignJet printers, as well as ScanJet 8290 flatbed scanners. It said the devices would be managed by HP's WebJet Admin software, Color Access Control tool and Universal Print Driver.

"Standardisation of their print infrastructure and careful optimisation of their printing environment has resulted in an improvement in network efficiency with immediate cost-savings and productivity improvements," said Amr Hassan, general manager of HP Middle East's Imaging and Printing Group (IPG).
