‘X’ marks spot for Oracle

Oracle has unveiled an architecture through which customers can link its different applications.

The company's Application Integration Architecture, codenamed Project X, is a tool that sits between its applications and Fusion Middleware, allowing applications to interact and understand orders produced by each other.

Oracle uses a common object-based model for defining orders produced by each application and the new architecture acts as a framework through which applications can pick up and process object-based orders created by other applications.

It is the same model to be used in Oracle's set of Fusion applications, scheduled to be introduced next year.

Oracle is planning to release a number of industry specific process integration packs later this year to connect its line of Siebel software with Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as with applications from i-flex, JD Edwards and PeopleSoft.
