Intel chairman Craig Barrett this week took the wraps off a number of redevelopment projects for Lebanon.

Barrett said the initiatives announced provided "concrete results at advancing the economic and social foundations" for the country.

Among other projects, Intel announced the installation of WiMax networks at hospitals, schools and community centres across Lebanon, the donation of more than 100 servers to universities, the construction of PC labs for schools, and technology training for 5,000 teachers by the end of this year.

The initiatives are part of the Partnership for Lebanon, which also includes Cisco, Ghafari and Occidental Petroleum.
