Kuwait is preparing to completely clear the land which houses an obsolete ground satellite station that was damaged by Iraqi forces in the early 90s.

The Minister of Communications Abdulrahman Al-Ghunaim requested the Ministry of Finance to clean the area of Um Al-Aish, which is close to the Iraq border, and sell any remaining satellite dishes, wires and other equipment as scrap.

The Communications Ministry is hoping the sale of these items will bring some financial profits, reported the Kuwait Times.

While the station hasn’t been operational for decades, it garnered its fair share of attention in the past when a UFO was reported to have disrupted operations in 1978.
