Qtel is upping the telco competition stakes by offering free landline connections for homes in Qatar.

Under the new promotion, which lasts till the end of February 2009, Qtel will offer a free connection and waiver rental fees for the first three months for any landline subscriber, resulting in savings of QR 299.

The company is also one of the few in the region to offer free landline-to-landline local calls.

Existing and new Qtel customers can call 111 to subscribe to this promotion, which is even open to Shahry pay monthly, landline, barQ ADSL, QCV or Mozaic TV+ customers.

Pressure is now building on newcomer Vodafone Qatar to take Qtel’s monopoly head-on as it begins operations next year.
