The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry has gone live with their online trading community portal that presently connects more than 200,000 companies worldwide.

DubaiBizMatch.com will match business opportunities in Dubai with the needs of the worldwide business community by enabling companies to trade products and services.

At a recent press conference to announce the initiative, HE Hamad Buamim, director general, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry stated that creating a favorable investment environment was a key objective and that the new portal will play an important role in the future of trade and commerce in the city.

The platform, which was custom-made by Tejari, features a number of services including virtual showrooms to display products and in-depth market research reports. Two 'connect packages' are currently offered - Trade Direct Program (TDP) and the Export Promotion Program (EPP).

'The number of businesses opening in the emerging markets is growing exponentially, with a variety of different industries and sectors booming in both performance and size,” said Omar Hijazi, CEO of Tejari.

IE-only website?

Unfortunately, Dubai e-commerce and e-government initiatives appear to be plagued with lack of appreciation for web standards. I was unable to get past the payment option on their website. I am not sure if the actual application itself is broken or if it just didn't like Safari.

Perhaps 'debuts' should be left when things actually have been tested to work?
