Axesstel is exhibiting its Arabic language wireless telephony solutions at GITEX Technology Week.According to the company, the CDMA/GSM phone, which was launched in Iraq only in May of this year has already begun to make inroads into the market.
“Previously the Arabic language phones were poorly translated and as a result could not be used for text messaging. Our system uses top of the line translation capabilities and comes with a large graphical display to ensure clarity,” says Paul Over, vice president of sales, MEA at Axesstel.
Over says that adoption has been on the increase since the introduction of the Axesstel solution, boosting the company’s strategy of targeting emerging markets.
“In Iraq we have formed partnerships with two of the leading operators and are currently establishing links in North Africa as well as throughout the rest of the Middle East,” says Over.
Axesstel is a fixed wireless telephony solutions provider with a number of products and services on offer including public call office (PCO). A small enterprise that purchases PCO could sell airtime on that phone to users.
“The PCO option is something we have developed aimed specifically at emerging markets. It is designed for easy use with its large display and big keys. This market is only going to continue to grow and the challenge will be to find new ways to support old technologies,” comments Over.
The company has two people covering the region and is using its first appearance at GITEX to present itself to the market. “We want to be visible in the market and meet prospective customers. We are also speaking to a number of regional operators who have indicated an interest in the solutions,” says Over.
