CommVault has announced its partnership with Dell to offer a new integrated backup-to-disk solution for SMBs that make data management, access and protection simple.

Dell’s latest offering – PowerVault DL2000 – is a software and hardware solution powered by the CommVault Simpana 7.0 software. It effectively allows companies to increase the speed and reliability of backups, reduce storage footprints and centralize the protection of remote sites.

It boasts 52% faster disk-based backups, 77% faster recoveries when compared to backups with tape, and built-in data deduplication. CommVault worked closely with Dell to co-develop this offering, which is expected to be made available to customers later this month.

“Customers are looking for easy-to-deploy full-service backup and recovery solutions that help maximize resources and make their jobs easier,” said Darren Thomas, vice president and general manager at CommVault.

“The DL2000 combines our PowerVault storage with CommVault’s advanced Simpana software – including de-duplication capabilities - into a single, integrated package to help simplify and automate these processes. We’ve done the integration so our customers don’t have to.”
