Middle East gamers will soon be able to get better performance with online games, with the Middle East debut of a new gaming router.

The Sitecom WL-308 Wireless 300N XR Gigabit Gaming Router is being brought to the region by Al Otaiba Communications, to cater to the growing market for games in the region.

The 802.11n draft 2.0 router is optimized for games and other high performance tasks like VoIP and streaming HD content, with features to reduce lag and provide low latency. The router uses Sitecom’s StreamEngine technology, which automatically recognizes application patterns in the datastream and allocates priority to those applications which need the best performance for optimal use of the available bandwidth.

The router is also capable of wireless operation, with three 3dBi detachable antennas, for speeds up to 300 Mbps, and wired networks, with a built in 5 Port Full-Duplex 10/100/1000 switch, for speeds up to 100 Mbit.

Khalaf bin Saif Al Otaiba, CEO of Al Otaiba Communications said: “As the tagline mentions, the router is targeted at hardcore gamers and internet enthusiasts who ‘Never Make Concessions’ and combines an evolution in networking with an innovative and appealing design. With recent reports stating that the Middle East has the world’s fastest growth in web use and with the number of serious gamers in this region growing exponentially, we believe that this product will take the market by storm.”
