Microsoft has announced that it will be exhibiting again at this year’s Gitex Technology Week in the UAE.

The company, which did not participate last year, will host a stand that will focus on its Microsoft Dynamics range of business applications, along with Gold Certified Dynamics partners.

Tamer Elhamy, Business Solutions Manager, Microsoft Gulf told itp.net that Microsoft had chosen to return to the event to showcase it renewed Dynamics range.

“Gitex is an important opportunity to connect with organizations in the Middle East, and one of the main shows where you can share your business solutions with different stakeholders. We are serious about our business solutions, and are committed to our Dynamics offering in the region,” he said.

The Gitex stand will include demonstrations of the full range of Microsoft Dynamics, including solutions for vertical industries, and product sessions.

Other parts of Microsoft’s business, such as its Windows, Office and server solutions will not be represented on the stand however, with the company choosing to promote the rest of its business groups through the Gitex conference. The company will sponsor one day of the conference, to be billed as Microsoft Day, with sessions on its key product areas.

Microsoft will also be present at Gitex Shopper, with a focus on the Xbox games console.

Among other vendors that have announced their commitment to the show is Dell, which will be exhibiting on its own for the first time at Gitex. The company is planning a large presence at Gitex, with a two-tier stand, product demonstrations and visitors lounge.

Not all major vendors will be participating in the event directly this year. Several companies that previously had their own stands, such as Acer, Canon, LG Electronics, Sun Microsystems and Sony will only be participating through partners, while IBM, which sponsored the Gitex conference last year, will also not have any direct involvement.

Dubai World Trade Centre, the organizers of the event, say that 3,300 companies will be represented at this year’s show.
