BREAKING NEWS :

Oracle extends SOA strategy with ClearApp buy

By Mark Sutton on Thursday, September 04, 2008

Oracle has announced that it has bought ClearApp, a supplier of application management solutions for composite applications.

Startup ClearApp provides management solutions for applications that are built using a SOA approach, and the acquisition by Oracle marks an ongoing expansion of Oracle’s SOA strategy, following the buy out of BEA earlier this year.

Leng Leng Tan, Oracle vice president, Applications and Systems Management said: “As customers deploy more SOA-based applications, the task of effectively managing them becomes paramount. Oracle is focused on delivering the best solutions for managing such complex application environments by delivering solutions for end-user experience management, business services and application performance management, as well as application testing and quality management.

“With the addition of ClearApp’s technology to the Oracle Enterprise Manager product family, our customers are expected to get continuous and uninterrupted top-down views of their business services and applications, helping them maximize service availability while reducing IT operations costs,” he added.

Financial details of the deal were not given, although it is Oracle’s seventh acquisition of the year.
