Jordan Telecom Group announces a reduction in IP connectivity costs from 15 percent up to 52 percent

Jordan Telecom Group (JTG), the leading integrated telecommunications provider in the country, announced a reduction in the internet protocol (IP) connectivity costs from 15% up to 52% for internet providers.

"We aim at playing an effective role in fulfilling his Majesty King Abdullah II's vision in increasing the penetration of the internet usage in the Kingdom as well as making Jordan a regional ICT hub." said Mickael Ghossein, CEO, Jordan Telecom Group at a recent press conference.

"This move also comes in line with the global trend in decreasing the cost of providing services to internet service providers (ISPs) consequently benefiting customers and end users," Ghossein added.

The total reduction of IP fees reached 53 percent in 2007, showing JTG's commitment to raise the rate of internet penetration in the country.

The current decrease amounts to 21 percent on average for Jordanian internet service providers.

Connectivity provided by JTG is established using three different cable systems to prevent service interruptions. "The Group is connected to the internet in Europe and North America through three physically separated routes guaranteeing higher levels of availability and service continuity, in addition to avoiding isolation when having a problem in one of the routes as well as decreasing the congestion in exceptional circumstances." said Wesal Balasmeh, wholesale marketing director, JTG.
