Friday marks Bill Gates last day of managing the day-to-day running of Microsoft.

Gates, who founded the company in 1975, will remain as chairman of the company, but will take less of a role in operations.

CEO Steve Ballmer will now take the lead, along with chief research and strategy officer Craig Mundie and chief software architect Ray Ozzie.

Gates will now focus on his charitable work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which tackles health and development issues.
