By Mark Sutton on Monday, June 16, 2008

LG Electronics has been awarded an AED 140 million ($38.1m) contract to provide smart home solutions to Dubai's Smart City project.

Under the contract, LG will deploy a range of solutions from its HomNet home and community management portfolio to serve all 3,500 homes in the Smart City development.

Among the solutions that will be installed at the project, which is being developed by Goldcrest Properties, will be high speed internet access, keyless home entry, video and audio communications, streaming CCTV, parking and access control and community portals.

Mr. K.W. Kim, president of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa commented: "Recognising the potential of its product offering, developers are now choosing LG HomNet to provide customers with a convenient and secure lifestyle integrating digital home solutions. We are well-positioned to support the region's booming property developments and are confident of LG's growth in this niche sector."

Amir Giga, managing director of Goldcrest Properties said: "As the proven specialists in smart home technology, LG Electronics offers a number of advantages over other providers, while boosting our own stature in the region's construction sector."
