Creating a Windows Vista (or XP) password reset disk can be a real lifesaver when you forget your account password. With it, you can easily reset your password and log into your system without any niggles. So be proactive and create a password disk right now with our super-quick guide.

Step 1

Click on Start/Control Panel. Now double-click on the ‘User Accounts and Family Safety' link, followed by the 'User Accounts' icon. Now select the 'Create a Password Reset Disk' option that appears in the left task pane. The Forgotten Password Wizard will now appear.

Step 2

You'll now be prompted to connect your flash drive. In the ‘I want to create a password key disk in the following drive:' drop-down box, choose the drive to create a password reset disk on. Once you're done, click the 'Next' button to continue. Step 3

With your flash drive still connected, enter your present user account password in the text box and click the 'Next' button once again. Your password reset disk will now be created in a few seconds. Once this is done, simply click Next and you'll have a new password reset disk.
