Two resellers in the UAE emirate of Ajman have been caught with pirated software following anti-piracy raids by Microsoft and local authorities.

Microsoft initiated the raids against the two resellers in its capacity as a member of the Business Software Alliance. The company said that it had been monitoring the resellers over reports that they were illegally installing Windows and Office software on to PCs that were sold to customers. The raids discovered two PCs with pirated software installed and a number of CDs containing pirated Microsoft applications.

Jawad Al Redha, IPR Manager, Microsoft Gulf commented: "Our nationwide anti-piracy campaigns are in line with the UAE's strong commitment to create a piracy-free environment. To effectively tackle the menace of piracy, we require the sincere efforts of the business sector and end users, who need to take a conscious decision to not use pirated software and report any violation of intellectual property rights."
