BREAKING NEWS :

Arab Tech Award nominations open

By ITP.net staff writer on Sunday, April 27, 2008

Nominations for the 2008 ACN Arab Technology Awards are now open. The Awards, which celebrate the most outstanding IT projects and people in the region, are a follow up to last year's highly successful inaugural competition.

Full details are available at the Awards website. Nominations close on Sunday 17th August, ahead of the ceremony on 20th October, during GITEX Technology Week. The 14 categories cover the Middle East's key vertical industries, including energy, government, telecoms and construction - as well as the prestigious ‘CIO of the Year', ‘IT Department of the Year' and ‘Vendor of the Year' Awards, among others.

"The ACN Arab Technology Awards recognise the world-class work that IT professionals - and the IT community as a whole - are doing in the region. Last year's nominations revealed a large number of outstanding projects and individuals throughout the Middle East - this year's Awards should highlight even more," said Eliot Beer, editor of ACN.

The 2007 Awards saw 75 nominations from across the Middle East, with the winners announced at a gala event at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai. Big winners included Mohammad Al-Khatib, CIO of Amman Stock Exchange, for ‘CIO of the Year', Dubai Bank for ‘IT Department of the Year', Cisco for ‘Vendor of the Year', and Doha Bank for ‘Banking and Finance Implementation of the Year'.

The judging panel - which last year included Mohammed Shah, CTO of Al Madinah Knowledge Economic City, Alistair Sinclair, CIO of Mashreq, and Todd McGregor, managing director of Forrester Middle East - will be announced in the next few months.
