Storage and Security certifications best paying

Brocade's SAN management certifications and independent security and auditing qualifications rank as the most lucrative certifications, according to a global survey of IT salaries.

According to certification specialist CertMag's 2007 Salary Survey, Brocade's Certified SAN Manager (BCSM) was the highest paying certification to hold, with an average annual salary of $117,100.

The second highest paying certification was from the Information Systems Audit & Control Association, an independent association of IT auditors. The ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) qualification had an average salary of $115,720.

The Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert was ranked third, with $111,090; while Brocade Certified SAN Designer (BCSD) came fourth, with average salary of $109,510 and the ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor in fifth, with $98,740.

The survey was completed by 35,000 IT professionals from 195 countries, with the majority of respondents outside of the US. The average salary reported was $74,730.
