Lose weight and keep fit

If you're looking to shed those holiday pounds and improve your fitness level, we recommend checking out FitDay.com. This app is essentially a weight loss journal, which you can use to log your food intake and workout sessions. FitDay analyses these log entries and displays a weekly total of the calories, carbs, fat and protein you've consumed, along with the number of calories you've burnt.

FitDay user, Craig Walters states on his personal blog, "Even if you're not planning to change your diet, keeping a log for a week or so will naturally change some of your unhealthy eating habits and open your eyes to some hidden calories. When you know you have to log your food, you'll be less likely to snack on impulse and you will avoid certain processed foods that will be a chore to enter in." (To read more about his experience with the app, point your browser to http://blog.closettherapyblog.com/?p=1906 .) FitDay is free to use, however the firm also offers an advanced desktop version for US $20.

If you plan to use FitDay, a complimentary site is Dietfacts.com . FitDay's database includes a huge list of generic foods, while Dietfacts boasts brand-specific foods, plus restaurant cuisine. When you look up a food item on the DietFact website, you can easily add it to your FitDay profile.
