SAP selected as Egypt ERP partner

By Mark Sutton on Tuesday, November 27, 2007

The Egyptian government has selected SAP as its strategic IT provider for ERP, it was announced today.

The five-year agreement is intended to encourage the development of the Egyptian IT industry.

The deal also includes a four-year, $10 million deal with the Egyptian National Postal Organization (ENPO), which will pilot the government's SAP adoption with the roll out of a range of SAP solutions.

ENPO and SAP Middle East and North Africa will also co-operate on a customer support centre based in Egypt, to encourage knowledge transfer and drive job creation in the country.

Dr. Tarek Kamel, Egypt's Minister for Communications and Information and Technology said: "The effective deployment of information technology remains essential to the Egyptian government's national development strategy, as the CIT sector continues to contribute significantly to economic growth and job creation. By joining forces with a technology leader like SAP, the Egyptian government is enhancing competitiveness and economic opportunities."
