Intellvisions Software targets ATM security market

By Sathya Ashok on Monday, September 10, 2007

Intellvisions Software has launched the i-watch surveillance system for ATM security at this year's GITEX Technology Week. The self-service technology vendor is also displaying its range of queue management solutions and transaction kiosks on its stand.

"The i-watch product is designed to better equip banking firms with useful data when dealing with fraud reconciliation and individual transaction records," explains Sudarsanan Nair, managing director of Intellvisions Software.

The company is expecting regional banks to move away from standard IP camera technology in ATM terminals and shift towards more intelligent data capture and storage. "A great deal of the ATM surveillance technology in use today is based on streamed images which produces massive volumes of useless data. One hour of recording can typically generate a gigabyte, the vast majority of which will not be useful," explains Nair.

"The i-watch solution records in much higher resolution and is targeted to kick-in when the terminal is in use. Added to this the built-in data compression software reduces the strain on the servers," he adds.

The Indian-based surveillance technology manufacturer expects to build on its network of Middle Eastern partners at the event and says the first days of GITEX delivered the right people to the stand. "This year we have had more traffic from good quality visitors, the people that we've met have known what we do so the response has been very encouraging," adds Nair.
