BREAKING NEWS :

Asbis ties up motherboard deal

By Dawinderpal Sahota on Monday, August 13, 2007

Components distributor Asbis Middle East has signed an agreement with Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) to offer the vendor's complete motherboard range for AMD platforms and its PC-chip motherboards for Intel. The deal will see Asbis delivering ECS product to resellers in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen and neighbouring territories, excluding Egypt.

Hesham Tantawi, VP for the MENA region at Asbis, reckons the deal will enable it to respond more efficiently to the changing requirements of resellers and system builders, whom it will serve from its distribution centre in Dubai.

"With 18 years of experience in designing and manufacturing motherboards, ECS is one of the major contributors in the IT industry," claimed Tantawi. "The company works very closely with many major chip designers on the development and manufacture of future IT innovations. Together with its business partners and its team members around the world, ECS provides a rich variety of new products and great services to its customers," he added.

The Taiwanese vendor has recently stepped up its global operations, expanding its manufacturing sites in China, Mexico and the Czech Republic in an effort to enhance its global coverage. It currently has branch offices in the Americas, Europe and the Pacific Rim and plans to open further branch offices in key emerging markets.
