Etisalat Nigeria is looking to grow its subscriber base by 45% in Nigeria next year. The telco giant is looking to lure customers from its three larger rivals.
Etisalat is targeting 20 million active subscribers by the end of the year, up from 13.8 million that the telco serves currently.
Steven Evans, chief executive officer of Etisalat Nigeria said: "Most of our growth is coming from people leaving other operators."
Etisalat has operated in Nigeria since October 2008, and is looking to grow its customer share from the 160-million strong population. The telco's rivals include MTN Group (42.8mn users), Globacom Ltd (20.8mn customers) and Bharti Airtel Ltd (18.6mn customers).
Evans also said that voice call growth is slowing down and data is growing. Nigeria's voice market has grown about 10% whilst data grew six-fold.
