UAE telco Etisalat has launched a daily prepaid mobile broadband package in a bid to expand the appeal of mobile data to new users.
The telco is offering 25Mb of data valid for 24 hours for a fee of AED5 ($1.36). By comparison, the entry-level mobile broadband package from the UAE's second operator, Du, offers users 5Mb of data for a fee of AED10 per month.
The service, which offers speeds of up to 14.4Mbps, is pitched at people who want to browse the web and use social networking sites such as Facebook.
Etisalat mobile subscribers can use the service by texting "1D" to 1010.
The telco has so far only marketed the service via SMS and is expected to launch a broader campaign soon.
