Dear delegate,

Some say there is little glamour in the MEP market place – yet this is one of the cornerstones of the construction industry revolution only it is generally hidden from sight. However, delivering and using electricity, water and cooling to all developments in a desert climate is a task second to none.

Project co-ordination is amplified in complexity from the short supply of resources, both materials and skilled labour.

This is reflected in energy consumption where the demand for power is expected to climb by more than half within the next five years. At the same time, power generation is only projected to expand by about a third. Capacity and access constraints are not likely to decrease.

Yet, the pressure to deliver buildings ever faster and more in a more cost-effective way is always on – as are expectations of faultless performance. With contractors and developers being put to the test - the stage is set for a process of elimination. But what can we all do to survive? Moreover, how can we all thrive and prosper?
