what is building smart?

buildingSMART ME officially launches in autumn 2009. As part of the renowned global organisation buildingSMART International, buildingSMART ME will eventually operate throughout the Middle East and North Africa. As a ‘not for profit’ organisation, buildingSMART ME will work for the benefit of global member organisations associated with the construction industry.

As a construction professional you will be well aware of the impact of the current worldwide crisis. Even in the Middle East, where the economy may be more stable than elsewhere, there is uncertainty. The bottom line is that there is a need to eliminate waste and inefficiency, improve productivity and quality, whilst taking on board the requirements of new legislation for eco-friendly construction. A tall order, but one that astute players in construction acknowledge may be solved by the adoption of collaborative and integrated processes.

The objective of buildingSMART ME is to address matters by introducing processes that significantly improve efficiency. This is achieved through the development and application of universal standards to enable interoperability between the numerous technology platforms used to design, build and manage construction projects.
