Notebook vendor Toshiba Computer Systems has opened its first logistics and distribution hub in the Middle East, located at Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai.

The hub will serve 21 countries in MEA, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt and Lebanon. It will also allow Toshiba to regionalise notebooks with Arabised software and keyboards.

The hub will be used to ship all orders for the entire MEA region. Toshiba said product shipments had already commenced from the facility, with logistical operations outsourced to the Panalpina Group and RHS Logistics.

“Toshiba’s new logistics hub is yet another development that will boost Toshiba’s growing standing in the notebook PC sector, improve excellence in the region, allow further strengthening of our channel relationships and serve our customers in an even more efficient manner,” said Santosh Varghese, MEA regional general manager of Toshiba Computer Systems.

The opening coincided with the tenth anniversary of Toshiba Gulf and the visit of the Toshiba Corporation’s president and CEO, Atsutoshi Nishida.
