In a bid to secure its lucrative print consumables business, HP Middle East is offering customers a delivery service on supplies such as cartridges.

The scheme, dubbed ‘Dial a Cartridge’ will see HP’s channel partners deliver original HP printing supplies to small and medium-sized business (SMB) and small office/home office (SOHO) customers who call a toll free number. The consumables will be delivered within 48 hours by a HP partner, who will be paid upon delivery.

‘Dial a Cartridge’ was launched in Saudi Arabia and the UAE last week, and HP plans to roll out the initiative across the rest of the GCC over the next six months.

Print consumables are hugely profitable for HP, with the vendor keen to fend off third-party suppliers who offer ‘HP-compatible’ products. By offering more services around its supplies business HP can therefore help to secure customers who might otherwise buy cheaper products.

“Dial a Cartridge is another step by HP Middle East towards providing our customers with the best after-sales service,” said Alya Azar, supplies business manager for HP’s Imaging and Printing Group (IPG).
