Geek of the week

Hell hath no fury like a Geek scorned and, boy, is this issue’s GOTW furious.

He is Mark Tilden, inventor of the best selling ‘RoboSapien’ series of toys. But don’t call them mere toys — well not to his face anyway, reports UK newspaper The Guardian. Tilden, a former scientist for US space agency NASA, has drawn flak from scientists for his creations that he claims are based on artificial intelligent designs.

His critics call them mere automatons. Tilden is not amused. “A lot of them don’t like me because I build robots that do things that fart,” he asserts. Not exactly the logical response to criticism, one would think.
The latest version of RoboSapien is due to be released for the holiday season and Tilden was unrepentant: “In the new RoboSapien, you’re looking at a machine that has more functions than Darth Vader’s underpants,” he claimed. That’s told us then.
