Schneider Electric said it has completed its US$6.1 billion acquisition of American Power Conversion (APC).

APC will join MGE UPS Systems, which Schneider bought in 2004, in the French electrical equipment group’s stable of companies focused on critical power and cooling services.

The deal, announced in October last year, is expected to result in significant value creation in excess of US$3 billion, and generate cost synergies of around US$220million in areas such as purchasing, research and development (R&D) support functions, sales and services.

“The combination of APC and MGE will generate value for our customers through a large choice of tailored solutions, a global services network and expanded technical expertise,” said Jean-Pascal Trickier, president and CEO of Schneider.
