Dear IT Weekly,

As a frequent business traveller between Dubai and Egypt I welcome the news that Cairo Airport is to introduce e-gates. This innovation has made a world of difference at Dubai Airport and many is the time that I have wished the same technology was deployed in Cairo.

It makes a great deal of sense for airports to invest in such technology which boosts efficiency, cuts down on queues and greatly enhances theexperiences of those travellers who have paid to use the service.

At present the system is optional, and only available to those who purchase the e-card, but I predict it won’t be long before all passengers arerequired to have their finger prints scanned and to pass through biometric immigration gates.

While technology has increased security levels, it has the flipside of having made it far easier for passports to be forged.
