Etisalat, the UAE teleco, has implemented a new solution from Oracle to help it manage and store its human resources data. The telecoms firm has deployed Oracle’s Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to help it manage data concerning its more than 10,000 employees across the region.

The system replaces an earlier Ingres platform, which the company had built inhouse, and which it had used for at least 15 years.

Etisalat rated the Oracle solution for its efficiency and resource utilisation, Abdelhakeem Almushtaghil, human resources management systems manager at Etisalat, told IT Weekly.

The system also complemented the financials, supply chain, logistics and contracts modules of the Oracle E-Business Suite; software which Etisalat already operated and thus allowed for integration between the modules, he added.

Benefits of the solution are that it helps control labor and administrative costs; manages workforce risks; has self-service processes for employees; and has provision of options for customisation through local language or in-house specialist projects, the company said.

With its clear layout of the staff on the payroll, the system will also enable Etisalat to make quick staffing decisions when considering new projects around the region, it said.

“Our people are the backbone of Etisalat’s strength, and they constitute a strategic investment in the long-term growth of the company,” commented AbdulAziz Al Sawaleh, chief human resources officerat Etisalat.

This enables the operator to “implement world-class shared services systems, linked with compensation schemes, training, analytics and other human resource-linked activities, the Oracle HRMS solution integrated with Oracle E-Business suite will deliver speedy returns to our HR team as well as senior management,” he claimed.
