Saudi Telecom Company (STC) has been named IP network service provider of the year by Cisco.

The networking vendor presented the award for Best Service Provider IP NGN Infrastructure of the Year to the operator’s general manager of network engineering, Eissa Aqeeli, and contracts and products director for network engineering, Abdulmalik Ibrahim Al-Marshad, at its Networkers Innovation Awards held in Cannes, France, from January 30 to February 2.

“STC has laid a foundation for a very broad set of services and features — they’ve taken a level of reach into areas that not only haven’t had these advanced services, but may not have had any communications at all,” said Tony Bates, senior vice president and general manager of the Service Provider Routing Technology Group at Cisco.

Jordan Telecom, UAE second operator du, and Saudi Post were also nominated for awards at the event.
