Oki is expecting the release of Microsoft Vista to provide a boost to its business after preparing for the launch of the long-awaited operating system by reassuring partners that they will be able to access a "broad range" of compatible print drivers.

Oki says that Vista print drivers will be made available for download from the company's regional websites during February. Vista print drivers will be provided for the latest generation of printers and multifunction models, and for most older products. Many print drivers will also be included in the box with Vista.

"We are dedicated to staying at the forefront of innovation and responding to the latest technologies in the marketplace," said John Ross, general manager at the Middle East subsidiary of Oki Printing Solutions. "Uptake of Windows Vista is expected to happen at a faster pace than any other operating system and we will be ready to respond to customer demands."

Vista is poised to improve the way customers manage their print systems and offer a better automated installation process for network printers and MFPs. It should also deliver a number of security enhancements and offer advanced graphic capabilities for easier creation and sharing of rich colour content.
