Etisalat today announced that the BlackBerry Pearl, the latest and slimmest Blackberry device, will be available at Etisalat Business Centres across the UAE.

The company also announced the launch of BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) for individual customers.

BlackBerry Pearl is one of the world's smallest smart phones. Unlike previous handsets, which have been targeted at business users, the Pearl will appeal to consumers thanks to a digital camera with built-in flash and 5x digital zoom, multimedia capabilities and 64 MB of expandable memory via microSD card.

The Pearl device also supports email, web browser, local maps, instant messaging, text messaging (SMS and MMS), organiser applications and more.

The BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS), which has made the phone so addictive to business executives that it gained the nickname ‘crackberry', enables users to access up to 10 personal email accounts (EIM, Hotmail, AOL, Gmail, Yahoo and others) from a single device.

With this service, adding new email accounts is quick and easy, and users can select unique "sent from" addresses, auto-signatures, filters and friendly names.

Prepaid Wasel customers will not be able to subscribe to the service, but customers on contracts will be able to access it from their Blackberry handsets.

I wonder whether the so called busy "business executives" will be able to do a comparison of this phone, before deciding on the purchase of a "Best Mobile", with other phones which have the similar features as well, such as: Sony Erickson w990i/p950i, N93i/n95 and Sumsung D900.

These models too have most of the features of Blackberry Pearl in their phones.

The price tag of BlackBerry Pearl is not that low compared to the above models of other manufacturers.
