Yemen’s telecommunications provider Public Telecommunications Corporation (PTC) has signed an agreement to offer Mitel’s internet protocol (IP) communication solutions.

“The new agreement will provide state-of-the-art IP communication solutions to customers to provide flexibility, cost-savings and improve business processes and customer service,” said Kamal Hussein Al-Jebry, director-general at PTC.

“We are now moving forward with plans to migrate our customer TDM [time division multiplexing] base to IP and the Mitel solution facilitates seamless migration, enabling customers to retain their existing equipment.”

PTC will use Mitel’s range of IP platforms, including the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), which is capable of supporting up to 65,000 users in a single network configuration, and which will be installed at various government institutions across the country.

Commenting on the deal, Hisham Amili, general manager, Mitel GCC, said: “Mitel’s partnership with PTC is a core element to our growth in the region. This agreement demonstrates PTC’s commitment to providing their customers with the latest communications solutions to improve their business.”
