Region leading sales growth for R&M

Business in the Middle East is booming for cabling firm Reichle and De-Massari (R&M), which recorded a 90% increase in regional sales last year.

The Middle East was the firm's fastest growing region for the third consecutive year, the Swiss company said.

Laurent Amestoy, MEA regional managing director for R&M, said that the main factors in its strong regional results were domain expertise, an extensive cabling product portfolio and a "thorough understanding of the region's needs".

Amestoy said the company's sales had increased across the region, especially in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The latter market is expected to contribute more than 25% of R&M's sales in the MEA region this year, Amestoy claimed. Overall sales grew 20% in 2006 to US$157.4million, with business in its home country accounting for around a quarter of total revenue.

By segment, R&M witnessed a 29% increase in sales for its enterprise cabling division, while revenue from its carrier cabling division, which provides systems for large network operators and telecom companies, climbed 8%.

R&M specialises in producing structured cabling solutions. Its customers in the region include operator Mobinil.
