SAP signs deal with SAGIA

SAGIA will unveil what is being heralded as one of Saudi's most significant IT deployments next week.

SAGIA will unveil what is being heralded as one of Saudi's most significant IT deployments next week.

The unnamed project, which is being undertaken between SAGIA (Saudi Arabia's General Investment Authority) and SAP Arabia, will be unveiled in Riyadh on February 5, with a host of regional and international public and private sector leaders expected to attend.

SAP Arabia said the project will have an immediate impact on Saudi Arabia's overall economy. The firm will also sponsor a related e-government workshop for Saudi government IT managers that same morning.

SAGIA was established in April 2000 to provide services and facilities that promote investment and economic development in KSA such as attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

In particular, SAGIA is involved in plans to establish four economic cities, which it has been claimed will attract nearly US$80 billion from external investors.
